All the parts were present including most of the tools. The battery took a little longer. The unit was in pristine condition with no problems when delivered.

This ETQ TG72K12 started up by battery in about five seconds and ran very smoothly. The idle control is a nice addition and will come in handy when charging the batteries. The voltages on the 240 plug measured 123v each for a total of 246 volts.

It has a built-in hour meter, a fuel gauge on the gas tank and even came with a small toolkit for assembly and a specialized bracket for lifting the generator with a crane, cherry picker, etc. Assembly was simple including installing the battery terminals.

The positive connects to the unprotected nut on the starter solenoid directly behind the nut with the rubber boot. This ETQ portable generator is made very well.

Few users were not happy with this portable generator though. One said the starter cord is on right side next to frame, making it a little difficult to operate it.

Our research for DuroMax XP10000E portable generator revealed 63 mostly positive reviews. Many reviewers agreed that this DuroMax genetator is a nice machine. It starts up immediately and runs great. It’s very easy to assemble the few parts required.

These come packed in a cardboard carton and the packaging is well engineered; thick foam all sides at top and bottom, all loose parts, wheel kit, etc. are all in their own little nook in the foam. It is very heavy but you can get it assembled and off the skid working alone.

The DuroMax portable generator is perfect for the backup that you want. You fill it with oil and gas, turn on the gas valve, back feed the main panel, hit the transfer switch and it powers the whole house with hardly any surge in the generator. It is awesome. It starts right up, runs nearly the whole house and is dependable.

However, one user had bad experience with this product. The breaker became “soft” and tripped below the rated value after a couple of attempts to run a 240v welder at less than 30 amps input. The DuroMax XP10000E generator should have been able to handle it minus the stuck rods that are simply momentary shorts and cause the amperage to spike.

Once the breaker tripped a couple of times in a row, it became sensitized to any current draw beyond just turning the welder on. Another reviewer pointed out that there were no oil and cords shipped with the unit. There is however one plug that was lying in the bottom of the box. Additionally there are no real guidelines as to which of the many outlets you should use and for what.
